The proposed airspace changes at Gatwick Airport is about to be completed. These set changes will mostly affect people living around Sussex, especially the ones near the entry and exit points of the airport. Before its completion Gatwick airport is requesting the public to give information regarding negative effects caused by flights and the airport operations that will be affected with the changes.
The local communities have an opportunity to report on sensitive areas or any issues concerning carbon dioxide emission and noise pollution caused by the flights. This information will influence the final decision on flight path changes. Paths said to affect sensitive areas or industries will be changed. Complaints will help establish new paths for flight that will ease public inconvenience. The UK traffic service providers have given the public until 21st January to air their views on flight paths. After which they will be reviewed and implemented as they see fit.
However Both Gatwick and NATS is cautioning people living around the airport that some changes will be enacted. Some of it will take a longer period; an example is southern England which is considerably the world’s busiest airspace. These proposals and consultations are the first phase of mega project that will deliver the UK Future Airspace Strategy.
Gatwick becomes the first airport to implement this project. The other airports in the United Kingdom will be expected to do the same in order to achieve the future UK Airspace Strategy set to be completed by the year 2020. Its main goal is to ease the impact and negative effects airports and aircrafts have on communities living around.
