Thousands of students headed to Tanzania for a fundraising were left disappointed at Gatwick airport after their plan to fly failed. This came as a result of failure in the company specializing in challenges for good causes.
Many of Nottingham university students intending to fly to Tanzania on Thursday evening converged on Gatwick airport ready for the flight. Their awaited trip to climb Mt Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity was in vain after the company that organized their trip ceased trading.
It was such a pity to the group of students who had gained sponsorship to reach the summit of the highest mountain in Africa when they received an email from the company saying that it had gone out of business just as they were about to check in for flight via Dubai.
The company also indicated in the email that they were unable to provide any services to their clients whilst in Tanzania if at all they could proceed to fly as planned. It also apologized for failure to meet their commitments to its clients.
Among the travelling students was tom parker who is an architecture student at the University of Nottingham who had planned to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation, having suffered from the disease himself. The students were disappointed for they had invested time, money and effort preparing for the trip.
It is also said that not only the students who were let down for the concept of undertaking adventurous challenges in aid of charities was started in early 90s and has been a great source of revenue since then.
