TRAVELLER NUMBERS REDUCE AT JOHN LENNON AIRPORT

Passengers numbers continue to fall at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Recently travel reports indicate that the airport which once flourished is experiencing lower number of travellers. In the year 2013 the airport received 4,231,181 travellers as compared to 4,510,433 passengers that they received in the previous year.

The decline in passenger numbers has seen the liverpool aiport loose its spot as one of the top ten UK airports. It has received stiff competition from airports in Manchester. The rival aiports have embraced low cost aircraft models . They also have airlines like Ryanair that do not go through John Lennon airport. Mr. Tudor, the airport spokesman explained the reason for the drop to be as a result of frequent changes in flight schedules.

He predicted that 2014 was most likely to experience the same traveller numbers as 2013. Regarding the fact that 2007 was considerably the best year for the Liverpool airport, he stated that at the time they used low cost flights that most of their rivals didn’t use. He added that since their rivals embraced those kinds of flights, they lost out on a lot of travellers. He also attributed the reducing numbers to most people preferring using Leeds bradford and Manchester.

He however seemed positive that the traveller numbers at the airport would increase. He confirmed that it would probably take one or two years for them to achieve increased passenger numbers.
