American Airlines Go for ‘No Frills’ Fares   like Ryanair

When all of the low cost airlines took to the air, it wasn’t clear whether or not they knew how much they would revolutionize the industry. So many airlines have felt the squeeze of being priced out, and are suffering lost revenue and missed opportunities because passengers are becoming more savvy and feel they shouldn’t have to pay premium prices if they are only looking to get from point A to point B.

In the United States, United Airlines is the most recent airline to fall prey to this phenomenon, so they have rolled out a basic no frills fare to compete with other airlines like Delta, that have already done so. Along with low cost carriers like Spirit Airlines, Allegiant, and Frontier that continue to expand in the US market, the airline needed to get themselves up to speed if they were to remain competitive.

As more consumers travel, many of them are trying to get the most bang for their buck. If a flight is fairly short, and it’s not too uncomfortable, many passengers are willing to sacrifice luxury or even basic amenities in order to save on the flight. That also translates to the ability to spend more at their final destinations.

As these price wars continue, we wait to hear who will be the first airline to get the transatlantic flight price to below three digits. If any one airline can do it, all bets are on Ryanair. The only problem is the flights are likely to be sold out constantly!
