Brexit Fears Unfounded, Reports Indicate

Despite all of the protests and concerns, a Brexit doesn’t automatically mean an increase in the cost of cheap flights.

According to recent EasyJet reports the real concern would be the political uncertainty that would create an environment in which prices would be likely to increase, but it’s not based solely on Britain’s exit from the European union. The EasyJet report simply points out that the prices could be unstable if there is a yes or a no vote.
So, the outcome is not really the issue, it is the uncertainty around the potential outcome.

Another benefit that UK customers are generally unaware, is that EU aviation laws require that customers get their money back if there has been a delay in flights. But with Brexit this may no longer apply. The reverse is that it can possibly resort to lower priced tickets because airlines won’t have to account for the cost in case they do have to refund the price of a flight.

Of course this isn’t to say the UK wouldn’t create their own version of this law, but while they take the time to put it in place, airlines would be able to drop fares if they so chose.

Budget airlines concerned about loss, could look to Norwegian airlines if they are worried about being outside of the European Union. Seeing as the airliner has grown their budget airline consistently for the past eleven years and are currently showing no signs of slowing down, there should be no cause for concern.

So if there is a Brexit, prices may change, but according to statistics the prices may go down instead of up unlike the naysayers would have us believe. Again, this is one of those situations of wait and see.
