EasyJet has launched a new app for Android and iPhone users to download. The ‘Mobile Host’ app is designed to make it simpler for passengers to manage the airport process and should make for a hassle free experience. The app can be downloaded for free and will be welcomed by those unfamiliar with the airport experience as well as those experienced travellers who can be frustrated by all the things they need to check list before they even get on the aeroplane.
Users will be able to search for flights, and then book them using the smart app in their hands. The app will remind the user to check in online before arriving at the airport.
Boarding passes can be downloaded on to the mobile app, thus being environmentally friendly and taking away the need to manage more pieces of paper. Your phone can then be scanned at the Bag Drop desks, security checkpoints and on boarding the plane.
Using Google Map technology the app will provide users with a floor plan of the airport, thus negating the possibility of getting lost, or not getting to the toilet before your flight takes off!
Live data will be taken from Gatwick Airport’s database, providing the user with up to date information, such as flight times and exit gates.
Owners of the brand new Apple Watch can also connect to the app, giving users extra features using its timekeeping functionality. A handy countdown function will show passengers the time remaining before they need to board the flight. A key feature of the Apple Watch is ‘Glances’ which will remind passengers of all the key parts of their journey, including pre departure information, destination weather, and real time flight status. Users will also be able to update social media directly from the watch face, updating family and friends on the status of their journey.
It is good to see new technology being used in a time saving and cost cutting way.
