Easy Jets Manchester Milestone

Easy Jet’s Manchester Milestone

Easy Jet celebrated a milestone recently as its 10 millionth passenger boarded one of its planes at Manchester Airport.  The passenger is question was Dale Johnson and he and his partner Gemma Riley were given a pair of return flight tickets to fly to a destination of their choice on the Easy Jet network.

The first Easy Jet flight from Manchester Airport was in 2008 and the flight company has grown alongside the airport. Manchester Airport experienced its busiest year in 2014 in the number of passengers using the airport with a roll call of more than 22 million people passing through its gates.  In April 2015 alone more than 30,000 people passed through the airport. It is currently the third busiest airport in the UK in terms of passenger numbers.  Meanwhile Easy Jet can claim its part in the airport’s customer growth as they now carry over 2 million businesses and leisure passengers a year to and from Manchester.   Numbers will rise as Easy Jet look forward to a busy summer at the airport as they are introducing new routes to Marseille, Split, Pisa, Porto and Kefalonia.

Ali Gayward, Easy Jet’s UK commercial manager and Patrick Alexander, Manchester Airport’s Head of Aviation Marketing, both expressed their excitement at the milestone reached.  Gayward personally rewarded the 10 millionth passenger and his partner the free return tickets.  Alexander expressed his delight at Easy Jet’s success at the airport and called it a “fantastic achievement”.

Manchester Airport has recently invested a billion pounds in its expansion plans to cater for the ever growing numbers.  This will include expanding terminal 2, creating a larger security hall, faster check in facilities and more.  Easy Jet will continue to experience higher passenger numbers due to their cheaper airline prices.  It currently costs under £21 to fly to Manchester from within the UK for example.

Here’s hoping that Dale and Gemma enjoy their free holiday, and well done to Manchester Airport and Easy Jet for their continuing success and in rewarding their customers in the process.
