EasyJet and Ryanair Supremacy Battle Rages On

It appears EasyJet is beginning to lose the battle of the skies over cheap airlines with Ryanair edging the carrier out with percentage of full capacity and increased sales.

Granted, there have been some situations that would reduce the number of flights each airline has had to cancel. They include the attacks in Brussels, as well as the French air traffic control strikes, in addition to the same strikes in Greece and Italy. Both airlines were forced to cancel, refund, and redirect flights in these instances.

Despite these losses, Ryanair was able to keep growth going and only suffered minor loss. EasyJet suffered a much larger loss, and appear to need more time yet to recover. Ryanair showed a major increase of about 18% and EasyJet only saw 7.2% increase.

It is likely that RyanAir was able to edge out the competition because of their new policy of cheap and friendly instead of cheap and nasty to their customers. This change in their policies has seen definite increase in passengers’ satisfaction. This, coupled with the cheap prices, it’s no wonder they keep their flights full.

On the other hand it seems a bit of sour grapes is happening on the EasyJet front as a spokeswoman for them stated that yes, their numbers had gone down, but they were doing fine. She did mention that they had good fares; they just weren’t giving away seats like some airlines do. We will say RyanAir, 1, EasyJet, nil.
