Brussels Airline Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow Airport

A Brussels Airline - Airbus A319, bound for Belgium on Sunday, returned to Heathrow Airport after experiencing engine failure midair.

Trouble began when one of the engines of the SN2104 flight shutdown causing a loud bang that could be heard 7000feet below by Surrey residents.

A Surrey resident on the ground said a “horrifying loud bang” was heard. They said, “I was on the ground in Leatherhead this morning when your plane flew over. The engine failed just as you passed directly overhead. The bang was horrifying! Great to hear that the crew dealt with it all so professionally. I was genuinely very concerned for you all.” The Daily Star reported.

The pilot steered the plane back to Heathrow Airport and landed safely at 7.31am, which was 21minutes after takeoff.

James East, a passenger, said those on board the flight were “worried” after the plane “shuddered”. He said that the crew remained calm despite the imminent danger and was relieved after landing safely.  He tweeted: “Catastrophic right engine failure on Brussels Airlines Airbus A319-20 flight SN2104 forced us to return to #Heathrow this morning.

“Plane shuddered and had us all worried but crew were calm and professional. Landed safely to clapping as fire engines awaited our arrival.”

Brussels airline in a tweet apologized to its passengers. They said: “Our apologies for this experience. I can totally understand you were worried, it's not something you experience every day.

“Our crew is well trained however, to handle situations like these and always stay calm and professional.”
