La Compagnie, a small luxury boutique airline has opted to suspend its New York to Luton route effective September 25, 2016 until further notice. The airline has cited an unstable climate after the Brexit vote and would prefer instead to focus on their New York to Paris route for the time being.
There is a notice on their website explaining the change although it disappears too quickly for one to read it in one go. It is there. The airline has said it’s load since starting the route 16 months ago has averaged about 77% capacity, and though they have continued to invest heavily in the UK market, they feel if they suspend service for now until the dust settles after Brexit, they will be in a better position to decide to add the route back or perhaps change it altogether. They believe in the UK market as they feel it has a unique position, but as of late, the market has felt a bit “fragile” so they have pulled the route for the time being.
The company will instead be focusing on their other route, which is direct to Paris with 88% consistent load. The route has proved very popular with increased demand since it was introduced.
The French based boutique business class airline focuses on luxury flights at a fairly reasonable price. The entire plane is made up of just 74 business class seats with a 175-degree incline, with the design to facilitate a personal workspace. There is a reading lamp, personal item compartments, electrical outlets, headphone jack, and a pouch for documents. The airline also boasts Michelin rated cuisine and an extensive wine list, and they have their own lounge at the Paris airport.
We can only hope they will add the UK route back as the reviews of the airline are really positive, and they cater to a very unique market.
