HEATHROW SET TO ANNOUNCE NEW CEO

Following the retirement announcement of Colin Matthews as the CEO of Heathrow airport in June this year, reports indicate that a successor has been found. The owner of the British airport could name John Holland Kaye as the new CEO anytime this week. This comes at a time that the airport awaits the very important announcement from the government regarding the particular location of the additional runway. A proposal to set it in south east London had been made earlier but the government needed time to consider all factors before the approval of the proposal.

Mr. Holland Kaye has been working at Heathrow as a development director. He spear headed the construction of the important terminal two that’s complete and is set to be opened in a months’ time. Terminal two has already received much praise and great reviews even before its opening. Apart from him, the CEO position had attracted other external candidates during the final selection process. Though he had managed to reach that stage of the selection process, his appointment will have to be agreed on by the shareholders of Heathrow Airport Holding Ltd.

Mr. Holland was once an executive at Taylor Wimpey, if his appointment is confirmed, he will be one of the most high profile business people in the UK.  The last years as the CEO of Heathrow has seen Colin Mathews repair the damaged reputation of Heathrow over claims of inefficiency and poor service delivery. For a long time, Heathrow has been considered the world’s busiest airport only to be overtaken by Dubai in this year’s report. This led to many blaming the government for the poor performance and even criticizing the government of being complacent of issues of airport capacity and expansion.
