Holiday Makers to Be Able to View Destinations before Making Travel Plans

Imagine you’re thinking of booking a trip to some far away and exotic vacation, but you have no idea if you’d actually want to go or fork out the money for a trip you may be disappointed with? Enter virtual reality.

Expedia is investing in a futuristic technology that allows customers to view places before they make travel plans. Thomas Cook used the technology and the Google cardboard headsets in their retail stores. Customers were able to put on the headsets and they were transported to their vacation destination. In this case, it was a 3-D view of the Red Sea Riviera. This is not your typical holiday destination, but after the virtual tour, I imagine many customers likely booked the trip. And if it was affordable in addition to being a lovely place, I am sure the sales poured in!

Expedia say this type of technology is definitely the wave of the future. Customers can view exotic and unknown destinations such as, UAE and the Irish Wild Atlantic Way. And those on a smaller budget or with limited mobility can view a place they may never see for the simple cost of the Google headset.

According to Expedia, this sort of technology will be used worldwide, and will be as easy as using it on your phones. Social Media will likely end up a much more interactive experience, with photos that are rich with media, and you can immerse yourself in the images.

So, are you ready to book your self that next holiday? Before you do, have a look at that beach in St. Tropez, or the view from Niagara Falls, or a castle in Germany. With this sort of technology our ever-shrinking world, just got a little smaller.
