London Buses Charging into the Future

TFL has recently announced they will be adding 51 electric buses to London’s fleet by the end of the year.

The buses are to have USB ports in the 12 rear seats of the bus. That part is just one of the perks of electric buses, and it is not the only reason these busses are being introduced.

Mayor Sadiq Khan has made it his goal to try and help reduce the pollution levels in London. He says adding the buses will help to reduce pollution in London by about 40%. He says it is part of his challenge as mayor to minimize the city’s levels of pollution, making London a cleaner and better place to live.

The new buses will increase London’s current fleet of buses from 22 to 73 which is the largest fleet in Europe, according to sources. With these buses expected to be on the road by the end of the year, they should greatly reduce the emissions we see from the current diesel buses. The plan is to have all 3100 double decker buses hybrid by 2019 and all single decker buses to be zero emissions by 2020.

Mayo Khan says he has outlined a plan to reduce the city’s emissions overall and has said by improving London’s bus fleet, the plan will create cleaner, healthier air.
