Luton Airport Revamped

Luton airport recently held a ceremony to announce the changes already underway to improve the airport. They will be revamping themselves to allow a capacity of 12.6 million passengers per year to 18 million per year.

The 2 year, 110m project will increase the airport’s capacity by 40 percent while adding a new £1 million executive lounge to their facilities. and creating twice as much retail space.

Passenger infrastructure at the airport will be improved and they have already begun work on a new 1700 space multi storey car park, and the rod leading to the terminal will be dualled.

It is thought that this will create up to 10,000 more jobs and Transport Secretary Patrick Mcloughlin is looking forward to the changes. He says in a couple of year’s time, you won’t recognize Luton and it will be on par with the airports in the rest of the country.

There is plenty of work to be done as he has stated, but the changes are well worth it as they are taking advantage of increased revenue and increased passenger traffic to make the much-needed updates. With an updated and easy to get to airport, one will see their investment pay for itself very quickly.

The influx of jobs created will be appreciated and will increase the positive feedback they have already received at the announcement of the renovation. Passengers look forward to seeing the updates to the often-overlooked airport. With its location and better desirability, it will be on par to compete with Gatwick and Stansted airports.
