Parliamentarians call on the screening for Ebola at UK airports.

Ebola is the disaster that everyone is talking about currently. Rightly so, this infection once acquired can lead to your early and premature death in less than 48 hours. Having an incubation period of 21 days it sometimes takes an awful long time to be noticed and correctly diagnosed. Passenger from West Africa the region mainly affected by the current outbreak, have flown to other countries and carried with them the infection thus making airports an ideal entry point for the virus. Such a scenario is what British lawmaker Keith Vaz is trying to prevent by weighing in on all UK airports to thoroughly screen for the virus for all passengers and especially those arriving from West Africa.

West African countries; Liberia Sierra Leone and Guinea are the worst hit countries by this outbreak, Nigeria has managed to control the infectious disease which had been brought in by a passenger flying fromSierra Leone. United States of America no less, has experienced how air travel can be an avenue for the spread of the virus after an infected traveller from Liberia flew in through Dallas airport in Texas. This particular traveller who has since passed away has left authorities in Texas scrambling to assure the public that all is being done to ensure the virus does not spread.

Spain has not been left behind after flying in one of the missionaries affected in West Africa, one of the nurses attending to them contracted the Virus. The two missionaries who were flown in unfortunately passed away.Success stories though, have been far between. 2 missionaries brought to Emory hospital in the US recovered and are well in addition to several patients in West Africa whose immune has managed to fight back the disease. The UK health secretary said it was now entirely possible that an infected person can come to the UK. Ultimately there is no time to postulate. “The time to act is now”. He said.
