Ryanair has their sight set on building vacation packets into their already popular app. DEO, Michael O’Leary says he has seen the way the pre-planned vacation trip has started to wane. In the past, the only way to get a cheap flight and reasonable accommodation were to book through an agency. This is no longer the case with our new digital world of access, where you can hunt down flights, tickets, and accommodation and tailor-make your holiday.
Through data analysis, O’Leary has noted that the average Ryanair customer will go ahead and pay for the flight but they may spring for luxury accommodation or even want to camp out, depending on their personal preference. The RyanAir app is designed to help you continue to design your holiday exactly as you’d like, with the additional discount included for using their services.
With the decline of special boutique travel agencies, which are fast becoming obsolete in many markets, Ryanair has opted to stay out of those situations, and offer holidays as an a la carte selection. With customers already on the app, they may find it easier to continue through and book their holidays.
As O’Leary has mentioned in the past, Ryanair felt a bit behind with getting on board with their app. However, with over 14 million users having downloaded it, he thinks these offerings will help to propel Ryanair ahead of the pack compared to other airlines and their delay with embracing modern technology and using it, to their best advantage.
