The Easter holidays have arrived!

School’s out for Easter!  As many children up and down the country rejoice, there are parents everywhere desperately racking their brains for ideas of day trips, adventure outings and activities to keep them occupied over the next two weeks.  But don’t despair, it between all that munching (and rationing!) of delicious chocolate eggs, we’ve got a few suggestions that may appeal to you.  Be your kids be adventurers, pirates, book worms, animal lovers or video game fanatics, we think we’ve got something that will keep them busy!

At the Bedgebury National Pinetum in Kent, this fabulous Superworm adventure trails is just perfect for three- to eight-year-olds. Based on the Superworm books by Julia Donaldson, there are also ten challenges to be completed, new play areas and mountain bike trails.  Adventure with a different can be found on the world’s first pier-to-shore zip wire at Pier Zip, Rock Reef in Bournemouth.  Climb the tall launch tower and throw yourself off across the waves to the beach on a super zip wire, if you dare of course!  And there’s a climbing route, aerial obstacle course and a cave adventure.

Fancy yourself a pirate?  Then it’s the Pirate’s Quest for you in Newquay, Cornwall.  Complete with actors, special effects and 360-degree sets that brings the world of 18th century buccaneers, smugglers and mermaids, shipwrecks, taverns and magic!  Plus, if you follow the map you may find that all-important hidden treasure.  If not, you could be walking the plank!

Critter Creek at Paultons Park in Hampshire is a great theme park ideal for lots of family fun, plus a new mini-land of weird and wonderful creatures, a bug emporium for those children that have a liking for creepy-crawlies, a roller coaster, express train and Little Shop of Horrors-style plants.

In Nottingham you’ll find the dedicated cultural centre for video games featuring a plethora of interactive experiences from experimental computers to vintage arcade games, and a special exhibition, Jump!, explores jumping from Donkey King (1981) to Destiny (2014) including games that can be played – time to put those iPads and smartphones down!

If you’re an animal lover, head over to Amazona Zoo in Cromer, Norfolk and discover a host of fabulous animals including pumas, jaguars, monkeys and ocelots, and don’t forget to visit their new tarantula house – scary!  Not keen on spiders?  Don’t worry, take a trip to London Zoo and meet the ring-tail and black-and-white ruffed lemurs as they leap, climb and lounge in their surroundings.  And if it’s a warm day, they love a spot of sunbathing!
