London City Airport Gets Major Facelift

Since London City airport’s recent acquisition, they have been very busy with updates. As London’s most central airport they have been in sore need of a facelift and it seems the new owners have heeded the call.

The airport is set to receive new retail revenue boosting software, which will collect sales data and help the airport to identify sales trends, and what items are most popular, and/or requested. This is aimed at providing better insights into their sales patterns which will lead to optimised retail and food & beverage operations and performance.
It is hoped that this will better help their concessions improve the quality of what they offer and have on hand. Using this software allows them to better collect data on the fly without having to process the info and send to an outside source.

Another positive happening has been the purchase of CityJet by the original founder of the airline and some private investors. CityJet is one of London city airport’s most popular airlines, and coming only a month after the sale of the airport, it gives credence to the idea, that perhaps many investors and airlines were ready for new owners at the beleaguered airport.

With the concerns over the expense of the purchase of the airport, it seems that the airlines that operate from the airport have faith in the new owners’ ability to turn a profit. After the changes that are underway, we will see if the sticker price was worth the investment.
