London Luton Airport Goes Big On Tenders

London’s Luton airport goes big on tenders.

 

London Luton airport has announced an ambitious tendering programme covering 7 units and 7027 Sq.meters of beverage and retail space. The programme is a part of a promising £100 million airport development. The commercial director said that this was their repositioning strategy and the airport was aiming at partnering with all major brands across all retail and consumer categories.

Tendering will begin this month and the management said it expects a heightened interest from brands in the luxury and affordable luxury segments. These business areas have previously been under represented. A new 1500 Sq. meters space combined with an already completed 1700 Sq. meters store will create enough space to absorb brands in these luxury categories.

The tenders to be floated in three trenches in April July and September follow a successful year in the airports history. 10.5 million Passengers choosing London Luton airport in 2014. The redevelopment will also involve a multi-storey carpark, an additional passenger boarding pier and a new surface car park. It will also build a new dual carriageway coming into and out of the airport.

Luton airports boss said that the whole redevelopment was about changing customer experience and perception. There are plans to include a new executive lounge having a service driven approach. With a walk in bar and snooze pods this lounge the airport hopes will give its leisure and business travellers a wow effect in addition too the walk-through tax and duty free store.

The airport is tailoring this remodelling and expansion on projections that it will have 18 million passengers by 2026. The airport has announced new routes, 11 in number and 3 new airlines using the airport in 2015 alone. This the airline says this will bring additional demand for luxury brands and top notch service
